Two children hurt in Seattle auto-pedestrian collision

Accidents between pedestrians and cars can have tragic results. It is an unfortunate reality that in the congested metropolitan cities of Washington that these incidents occur with upsetting frequency. Not long ago, two young girls were struck by a vehicle in the Dunlap area of Seattle.

The girls, who are believed to be the ages of nine and 12, were crossing Rainier Avenue South. They were apparently hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of South Henderson Street. The driver of the vehicle stopped and spoke with authorities and it is unknown if charges will be filed against that individual.

Both of the young victims were taken to a local hospital. One of the youths suffered life-threatening trauma while the other endured serious injuries. They may both face very long roads to recovery and may, depending upon the harm they experienced, face challenges related to their accident for the rest of their lives.

As previously discussed on this blog, drivers may have a heightened level of duty when they are operating their vehicles in places where children may be present. This accident occurred in the vicinity of several schools and recreation areas, including South Shore K-8, South Lake High School and the Rainier Beach Pool. Whether the driver should be held to a normal or higher standard may be assessed in the event the victims choose to sue for their damages.

After a pedestrian accident it can be difficult for a victim to get their life back on track. These two victims have their entire lives before them and may suffer because of the actions of the involved driver. With the support of their families they may work to recover and seek compensation for the losses they suffered.
