The day after Christmas a serious two-vehicle accident happened in West Seattle. The incident occurred on Sylvan Way Southwest in the morning. A car driven by a 33-year-old woman crossed the center line of the road and collided head-on with a pick-up truck traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the car and her passenger suffered serious injuries, and the victim in the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested the driver of the car and suspect that she was impaired by drugs or alcohol when the crash occurred. Her charges include vehicular assault though she will not be taken to jail immediately as she is in the hospital for the treatment of her accident-related harm.
This all too common scenario is a good reminder to drivers that car accidents happen practically every day on the roads and highways that surround the greater Seattle and Bellevue communities. In the blink of an eye a driver may find themselves struggling for their life due to the negligent and sometimes reckless conduct of other individuals.
While the driver of the pick-up truck in this story will likely recover from his injuries, it is significant to note that he should be able to pursue his losses and seek compensation for his accident-related injuries. Injuries do not have to be life-threatening to be compensable; his medical bills, property losses and other costs may be sought through a civil lawsuit based on the other driver’s negligence. With the assistance of a personal injury attorney, this victim may be able to craft a successful pleading that avails him to full compensation for the losses he sustained.
